Lets talk about one of the most special homes listed in Malibu right now, 6166 Ramirez Canyon. A zen four bedroom four bathroom rustic retreat in the best neighborhood in Malibu. The open style of the home allows you to seamlessly flow from one living space to the next complimented by its massive glass walls flooding the home with natural light.
The modern design on a closer look is actually something rather inviting as curved edges, accents of wood, and asymmetry contrast the typical stark feeling you may find in modern homes and make the residence rather inviting. This property has character, charm, and elegance and truly one of my favorite homes listed in Malibu right now.
The Neighborhood
To speak of the neighborhood, I remember fondly visiting my friends who lived in Ramirez Canyon as a kid and always was charmed with the location.
It comes with a perfect blend of rustic allure, from the tall trees that weave their way though the streets and skyline of the neighborhood, to the sound of running water from the creek, and the cold fresh breeze that runs through the valley, with grace and elegance, from the artistically designed homes and tightnight friendly community. The neighborhood is gated and safe but is in a perfect spot for bikable beach access or a sunday brunch at Paradise Cove restaurant.
If you like to surf, some of Malibu’s best kept secret surf spots are right down the road as well, (but I can’t tell unless you come in for a showing!).
First Impressions
Now my first impressions of the home were nothing short of being astonished. First of all, the layout of the home is incredible.
You walk in and are greeted with some of the tallest ceilings I have seen in a home. But there is something about the house that feels homely, oaky, and inviting despite the tall ceilings. The distressed wood floors and garnishes browns throughout the home combine its elegance with nature and make you feel connected with the property.
You get the best of both worlds, modern tasteful architecture without compromising the feeling of a home with character, there is nothing that feels cold or brutalist about this property.
Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen blew me away.
Everything is open and breezy, there are views into the yard as the entire front of the house is glass, the appliances feel well built, the large marble island has plenty of space for guests and big dinner plans but all of this is garnished with a great sense of design and notes of gold and white.
I can’t help but imagine myself here gathered around with amazing company on a sunday evening.
A Home Worth Living In
For the rest of the home, I can’t stress enough how everything feels intentional. The architect really considered how a home should be lived equally to the style and architecture of the property. Every fixture, every appliance, the tile in the bathroom, the large bowl bathtubs, the feeling of natural wood on your bare feet, open living spaces, views from almost every room in the home makes this residence a Malibu masterpiece.
